Festivals

The past weekend was The Mercian Gathering a wonderful festival full of talks, workshops and ritual. It makes me miss the way things are done over here in The States.

Now I've not actually been to a festival over here but have read and listened to a lot of accounts of them. Now taking bravado out of it, the main focus seems to be a little ritual, a lot of drumming and revelry (especially at the revel fire). There is talk of some workshops but they don't seem to be the main event. I wonder if that is actually the case or not? I guess there is only one way to find out.

However I am cautious about it as the 8 commonly celebrated holidays are viewed v differently here. For example Beltane is hardly observed here but its a major festival in the UK.

I guess its just a major learning curve
