New year's reflections

As I sit and reflect on the starting of the new year I can not help but look at the one that has just left us behind. I look at what was good and was bad in it. I look to build or repeat the good things, the positive things, the fun things and hope to avoid making the same mistakes and to have even more fun times, good things, happy things. It is a time to strengthen resolves and make promises for the new year (most of which we know that we'll never keep).

But why do we do these things? It's just a man made convention. The 31/12 is the same as the 02/01 there is no significance to the date apart from what we have given it. And I guess that is the point. It's a focus, it's a nexus of our wishes and understanding. It's like intent in spell craft, it's the most important thing. It IS important because we say it is.

Perhaps we should apply the principle to other things. Apply the same importance to other aspects of our life and society, turn something from the mundane to the wonderful! Anything could be achieved!

And on a personal level, I should make every day, every action important, just because I SAY it is. If everything I do is important, how can I ever feel small?

Happy new year everyone!

May 2010 bring peace, love and understanding to you all!

Blessings of Isis
